Block Facebook Applications ~~>

Are you regularly bombarded with unusual application requests from your friends? These requests make you install them or allow access before you can use them. Would you like to have a better control on these requests and permanently block some of them?

For those users who use Facebook as a medium for connecting with their friends and family do have a little interest in these Facebook applications can choose to disable some or all of the application platforms in a few simple steps. a.    To disable these applications, select the Privacy Settings from the Account button located on the upper right corner.

b.   At the bottom of the page there is Apps and Websites section and click on the Edit Your Settings link to customize the settings and select those apps from which you don’t wish to receive notifications.

c.    Then you must select those apps and games from where you don’t wish any notifications from. You can select any particular apps or turn off all of them at once.

d.   When you select some of them the following dialog will appear. Simply click on the Remove button to confirm your action.

You have successfully disabled your applications and you will not receive any notifications or request from these applications in future.

Create Keyboard Shortcut for Any Program in Windows ~~>

Shortcuts are an easy way to run and access certain programs. We use them to initiate the programs and perform certain operations or functionality that is widely used during the execution of the program. It becomes very cumbersome when we have to start our most frequently used programs using the standard procedure where we have to click on the Start menu to select it. In such scenarios shortcuts can become handy and you can use your own customized set of shortcuts that can be used for the invocation of certain programs. In the tutorial we will teach you how to create shortcut combination for Mozilla Firefox, you can do these steps for any installed program.

The following tutorial will help you in creating a shortcut for certain programs in Windows 7 that you use frequently. Also note that this tutorial will work for Windows XP too.

1. On the icon of the desired program situated on the Desktop, right click on it and select Properties from the right click menu.

2. On the tab panel, select the Shortcut tab from it. Then click on the shortcut key box.

3. Now select a combination of Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys with any alphabet, number or symbol.

Now press the shortcut key combination and your program will be started.

Disable New Photo Viewer On FB ~~>

Facebook recently unveiled its new photo viewing application that has not gone well with the users. The new interface has a black lite box in the background in which the photo gets displayed. The website did not provide any means for the users to disable it but here are some tweaks and tricks that you can perform so that you can view the photos in the classic viewer. In response to the feedback that the company has received the Facebook might be thinking to shutting it down for ever. At present I had come to know about three possible ways where we can shut down this feature:

a. Disable the theatre mode of the photo URL: When you click on the URL of the photo it will be like

In the above mode simply delete the &theatre at the end of the string and then press Enter. You can browse the photos using Next and Back browser buttons.

b. Open the photo in the new Browser window or tab:

Simply right click on the image instead of left click and then select the Open in New Tab. It will open the photo without the Theatre mode.

c. Reload the Photo: After you have clicked on the photo and then right click on the photo to reload it. This will load the image again in the old viewer.

Google Images is the most comprehensive picture hunt tool on the internet. Introduced in the mid of 2001, it has gained wide-acceptance in a very short span of time. In order to find the desired image, you simply need to type the name or genre of that image and Google will provide you 1000 different pictures of that. How will you react when you see these searched images flying? Yes, you can make them fly by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Type www.google.com in your address bar.

Step 2: On the upper side of the main page, you will find “images” tab. Click on it.

Step 3: Type the name of the image that you want to see. For example, type the name “Funny”

Step 4: Now as expected, Google will display a page consisting of 1000 of “Funny” images.

Step 5: Now, simply remove the URL from the address bar and, in its place, paste the following code:

There might be the case when you don’t wish to chat with few peoples or in other words you want to chat with the selected one. If you get frustrated with the disturbance caused by these “No to Chat” people, in that case, Facebook provides you with the nice facility which enables you to choose the people with whom you don’t want to chat.

It’s a hidden feature which can be enabled by following these steps:

Step 1: Open your account on Facebook.

Step 2: Click on the “Chat” option which is present on the lower right side of your profile.

Step 3: There you will find two options. Choose “Friend List”.

Step 4: There you will find an option of creating a new list. Name it, for example, “Blacklisted”.

Step 6: Now, select or write the names of the people with whom you don’t want to chat.

Step 7: Set the status as offline for this chosen list.

Make Folders with Invisible Names~~>

You may have given or find varieties of folder name in your or in your friend’s computer. But have you ever tried to give your folder a blank name or in other words an invisible name? Computer by default do allow you to take space as your folder name. Here are the few steps which will help you to create your without name folder.

Step1: Click the right button of your mouse on the folder whose name you wish to keep invisible.

Step2: Now click on Rename.

 Step3: Now pressing the “alt” key, type “0160”.

However, type this number only with the help of keypad which is on the right hand side of your keyboard.

Step 4: Now simply click anywhere outside folder.

Docx format was introduced by Microsoft in 2007 with a quest for people to upgrade their office software and other Microsoft services. This version of MS Office 2007 is not compatible with the older versions like Office 2003 or Office 2000. I get annoyed when I receive the .docx files from my friends and I don’t have Office 2007 installed on my machine and I don’t have any plans to upgrade it either.

So I will tell you five known ways to open a .docx file even if you don’t have microsoft office 2007 installed on your computer.

1. Microsoft Compatibility Pack

This pack is introduced by Microsoft so that its new products are backward compatible with the older software. This pack will allow you to open, edit and save all your office documents in the latest versions of the Microsoft. This pack is available from the website of the company.

2. OpenOffice

This is an open source alternative to the Microsoft Office. This software is free and easy to use. You can open them directly or using its Open XML Translator tool.

3. Go Online

Internet is flooded with many websites that offer you free services to convert the .docx format into .doc format online. There are several popular online converters available such as Zamzar and docx2doc. You can opt for the offline conversion also by downloading the Docx-convertor dashboard from here.

4. Google Docs
